Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2 November 2026

This policy explains what information CodingBattle (codingbattle.in) collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have. CodingBattle is run from Bangalore, India.

1. Information we collect when you visit

To understand which pages are useful and where our readers come from, we record each page view:

  • the page you opened and the time you opened it
  • your country
  • a shortened IP address
  • your browser and device type (as reported by your browser)
  • the website that linked you to us, if any (for example, Google)
  • your username, if you are logged in

We do not store your full IP address. Your IP address is used only for a moment to work out which country you are visiting from. We then remove its last part (for example, 49.36.10.5 is saved as 49.36.10.0), which no longer points to your device. Country lookup is done on our own server; your IP address is not sent to any outside service for this.

Like most websites, our web server also keeps short-lived technical logs to keep the site secure and working. These may include full IP addresses and are deleted automatically.

2. Information you give us

Account

When you sign up, we store your username, name, email address and password. Passwords are stored in encrypted (hashed) form; we cannot read them. If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email address and Google account ID with us.

Things you submit

  • blogs, comments and reviews (including the designation and company you enter)
  • messages sent through the Contact Us form (name, email, subject and message)
  • resumes you upload for review, and our suggestions on them
  • referral requests (job link, company and job title)
  • profile pictures
  • words you save in the dictionary. Words you look up are sent to the free dictionary service dictionaryapi.dev to get their meanings.

Code you run in the code runner is processed on our server to show you the output; we do not keep it.

3. Cookies

We use only the cookies the site needs to work:

  • a session cookie that keeps you logged in
  • a security (CSRF) cookie that protects forms from misuse

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and our visit statistics do not use cookies at all.

4. How we use your information

  • to run the website and your account
  • to provide the resume review and referral services you ask for
  • to reply to your messages
  • to see which pages are popular and which countries our readers come from
  • to keep the site secure and prevent misuse

5. Who we share it with

We do not sell your information. We share it only with services that help us run the site:

  • Amazon Web Services (AWS), which hosts our servers, database and uploaded files in India (Mumbai region)
  • Google, if you choose to sign in with Google
  • providers of fonts, icons and scripts used by our pages (such as Google Fonts, cdnjs and jsDelivr), and YouTube for embedded videos. Your browser contacts them directly when a page loads, so they receive your IP address under their own privacy policies.

When you request a referral, we use the resume and details you provide to make that referral. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.

6. How long we keep it

Visit records are kept only as long as they are useful for site statistics and security. Account information and content you submit are kept until you delete them or ask us to.

7. Your choices

You can ask us to show, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to delete your account. Email us at phoolchandra.ac@gmail.com and we will respond as soon as we can.

8. Children

If you are under 18, please use CodingBattle with the permission of a parent or guardian.

9. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update it on this page and change the "Last updated" date above.
